The big freeze

27 January 2009
So far this year we've had one serious ice-over at the lakes.  Manor lake was completely frozen over for over a week in early January.  It froze to around 2 - 3 inches all over.

It thawed out now, but really cold and still nights are seeing a thin layer of ice forming.  Expect to wake up to frozen in lines if you're doing an overnight.

Carp are still coming out though as are the Pike - which are feeding like crazy at the moment.  Still no sign of Clive's 26lb monster though!  Lots of singles and low doubles.  If you're lucky enough to land something bigger - please let us know.

Remember - dont walk on the lake if it freezes over again.
The water make not be that deep, but the silt is and you'll find yourself in trouble.

At Manor lake there is a life ring mounted by the trees on the tree-lined bank should it be needed.
